UPDATED: Temple 2010 is in the Books

UPDATE: We’ve fired our Arrowheadology Staff photographer and posted his work to show why. Who spends all their time visiting and looking at artifacts while attending the Temple show on assignment and then tries to capture a few quick photos in the last 5 minutes while muttering something about having to leave early for a marriage anniversary commitment? (That would be me.) We’re now accepting applications for Arrowheadology Staff Photographer. Submit your best work from the Temple Show in the Arrowheadology Forums!

And file another one in the spectacular event category! The 2010 Lone Star Archeological Society Show co-hosted with the Genuine Indian Relic Society (G.I.R.S.) delivered a first rate show.

Thank you to all who attended and participated. The show is only as great as its exhibitors and the time and effort you contributed is greatly appreciated. And a special ‘thank you’ to Leslie Pfeifer and the tireless G.I.R.S. primes who dedicate much to make the event a success.

The Fenn Clovis Cache dominated the foyer and was the first thing attendees saw when entering. The collection was on loan from Texas A&M thanks to its gracious owner.

From there, aisles and aisles of education and an immersion in artifacts followed. Texas was well represented and spectacular collections from the Plains, coastal regions, Midwest and beyond were on display. Every time period, culture and ‘type’ had a voice in this show from the ‘Anderson Yuma’ to Woody Blackwell’s exquisite educational handiwork.

Check out the Arrowheadology Forums for show pictures captured by Arrowheadologists in attendance. Also be sure to become a member of the G.I.R.S. and receive Prehistoric American, the quarterly artifact publication which is a work of art in itself.

And lastly, reserve time on your 2011 calendar (1st week of June) now so that you won’t miss out on the 14th Annual show!

how ’bout some personal find collections ? All I saw ( and all were fine ! ) were purchased artifacts—anyone with money and POSITION can buy G-10 ’s . Not intended to be a ugly comment just an observation . Don Black

I hear ya, its so easy to be just some rich guy with 80 damn g-10 paleo points. Go out and find them yourself its alot more gratifying. Also I feel that a point loses its history and loses something else I cant put into words when they are just distributed all over the country in a different collection every 10 years. They need to stay in the state they are from.

I agree Don, it’s more fun to find your own. Also saves a lot of money. The high rollers have taken over the hobby!

I agree with you guys…so with that how about some help for an out of towner. I am stationed in McAllen, Texas for two long months and am looking for a
location to spend a day surface hunting or digging. I hunt points in Georgia and
understand how hard it is to find locations or individuals who are willing to
take someone with them. Most of the guys sell points but do you know of anyone
who would even charge to take a gent arrow head hunting in central to south Texas. Seems hard not
to pursue the hobby in such a culturally rich area.

Any help would be deeply appreciated,

    Thanks,
    Charles

Hey good job on the pictures Shannon, even if you did have to rush thru at the last minute. I saved all the BG pics for reference, that guy just makes everyone sick … wish we had a few more like him! Really appreciate the pictures since I had to miss this one, hopefully next year I will be back in the mix… Thanks!

The last two photos above are not Fenn Cache, they are the Crook County, Wyoming Clovis Cache. Once owned by Forrest, but not part of the cache that bears his name.
