Next time you’re in the Austin area, the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum is a good place to invest some time. Three floors of interactive exhibits, an IMAX and special temporary exhibitions capture the spirit of the Lone Star State.

The story begins with the a very high level overview of the ancient Texas and quickly transitions with the arrival of the Spanish and a brief bit on the Karankawa Indians along the Gulf Coast. Other items of note are Stephen F. Austin’s diary and Neil Armstrong’s space suit.

While there is not a great deal on native tools and history it is worth a visit. Here are a few of the artifact on display. Click on each for a better view.
