Clay Bead? & Gorget

These pieces came out of the collection of a deceased local Archeologist, Bogie Price, from NE TX and the son is looking for more information as there are no records that he can find. His father was known to have dug a variety of sites in NE. TX, NW. LA, and SW. AR during his career with most being in NE TX. The Gorget measures 3/3/16" and is marked Snipes #1, Sulpher River, Douglassville, TX, and is pretty nice, even tho it is not whole, with some intricate engravings that I have never seen. I would appreciate any info or opinions on these pieces. Also, what value would you put on the Gorget, thanks.

The gorget looks Hematite to me.I think the pottery piece is some kind of ornament that would have hung from clothing.

The 'clay bead' looks like an ear plug.

Love the gorget, that's an outstanding piece. How heavy is it? I can't tell from the pic if it's hematite, limonite or fused shale.

Here's some trivial information for you. I'm not saying yours is, but did you know that a large number of engraved broken gorgets were decorated after they were broken? I have personally found around 100 broken & complete gorgets and have noticed distinct patterns, helping to explain why they are found in some areas like that.
