What is this?

I found these in a river north of Abilene this weekend.

The first 2 pictures are what I am thinking is a fishing net sinker. There are 3 holes drilled all the way through it and a pecked out curve between the 2 holes on the flat edge.

The third picture fits perfectly in your hand and has definate chipping on it, so I am pretty sure it was made for something, but I dont know what. Please help!!!!!

I'd have to see some close up pictures of the holes to be 100% sure, but my gut feeling from looking at the pictures is they are both natural formations, especially since they both came from a river. That's just natural water erosion.

Gibby - Yes, all three holes go all the way through. There is visible "pecking" on the curve I mentioned that curves from one hole to the other. I have a feeling that some sort of rope/twine was through the holes.

Steve - I could see the 3rd picture being nothing at all, but the first 2 pictures of the stone with the holes in it is definately manmade. I just dont know what it was used for.

Found in the Brazos.

All 3 holes are drilled all the way through. In the top pic you can see light through the 2 on the flat surface. The hole visible on the top of the rock goes straight through to the bottom.

Those holes are extremely small to be drilled through stone (I'm assuming it's stone) and don't show the typical drilling characteristics....but it's very hard to tell from the photo. Got any sharp closeups available?

NorthTxHunter, like I said, from your pictures all I see is a natural stone. The "drilling" just doesn't look right and looks to be more of erosion of a softer material or a fossil. I could go to one of my local creeks and find you 15 or 20 stones that look just like that one in about 30 minutes. We call them Holy Stones because they are full of multiple holes. Take the piece outside on a good sunny day and see if you can get some clear photos of the holes and maybe we can get a better assessment.

Thanks
