Opinions please!

I found this a few weeks ago while walking a creek. I still look at it and wonder if it is anything or not! To me it looks like the tip has alot of wear on it. Drill or punch maybe? If it is just a rock it has to go outside in the ever growing "WANNABE INDIAN ARTIFACT" rock garden lol! Let me know what you think!

Kinda hard to tell from the pictures,,,the top pic. looks like it has some edge work done to it,,,count flake scars and ask yourself if you think it was found in context to other known artifacts,,Maybe a core reduction,,,??

It has a chance of being some kind of awl, punch or drill. I see some pretty uniform flaking on the first photo. The piece has the look of a hand held tool. That shape and the way the larger flakes were detached along the length could mean it was deliberately manufactured. I'd keep it by the inside back door in that catchall drawer until later.....

Unmistakably a multi-purpose tool on a primary reduction flake.

You keep that one.

I'm not convinced that's an artifact. You will find pieces like that on just about any creek in the Ozarks that has good quality cherts / gravels in it. It gets beat around, knocked to-and-fro and you'll find a buttload of pseudo-artifacts.

Much & all as I respect your knowledge & experience, Mr. R., I'm sticking by my guns on this one. Acknowledging that you may well be (and probably are) right in general.

Bill, you have an invitation to come visit sometime. I'll take you hunting and creek walking here, I think it will completely change your perspective of artifact vs. geofact.

The pic of the other side would help,,,in determining of it is a reduction flake,,,atleast.
