    Argillite Triangle Point?

    Hi All:

This is another recent find from the Delmarva area. I found it in a known encampment near a river. I have found larger argillite flakes/damaged points in the area before, as well. I'm not sure if this is just a triangle shaped flake or if this is a point. The sides look like they form a deliberate edge. My experience is that argillite weathers like crazy, so much so, that a point can be completely smooth. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It looks like a weathered point to me but I know nothing about that type of stone.

Levanna would be the type in my area. might go by a different name in your area but it would be middle woodland 1400-800 BP. It might be the same in your area as New York Projectile points by William Ritchie calls it Lavanna also
