Just got in last night from the great little artifact show they have every year at Bowie, TX. Had a really good time, sold a few pieces, and bought this one very nice Pinetree out of Ft. Payne chert. I took it out in the sunlight and looked at it under a 15x loupe - no crushing in the notches or serrations, no metal, still has a lot of dirt and minerals all over it - I think it's a no-brainer, but I am probably going to get it papered anyway - unless one of you wants it as is! PM me if you like!

Do you think Rogers or someone from further East would be a better judge of authenticity for this type?
If it were mine I think I would try Tom Davis.
Did you get a guarantee?
Looks like its been modernly resharped IMO
Came with no guarantees, which is why I got it for a relatively low price. I louped both sides of the blade and saw no difference in patina or mineralization along the blade edge; the flint is a slightly different color but that goes through to both sides along one edge.
Looks nice. I wish to heck I knew how to tell authenticity!! Good luck. Hope it turns out to be a good one.
