The Overstreet Guides are pretty useful, they Cover my Area pretty well..
But there are certainly other Books that i rely on even more so.. Namely "... Stone Age Spear and Arrow Points of California and the Great Basin..." by Noel D. Justice It's written for Archaeologists, Students & collectors, leaning more so towards the first two groups.. so it can seem a bit dry, But it isn't overly involved to the point where You get totally lost reading a Chapter.. There's plenty of great Line drawings for each point type, including broken ones, so you most certainly get a better prospective of the variations within each point type.. Plus, at the front of the Book are a number of Pages in full color of numerous examples of each point type.... I know that Justice Wrote additional Books for the Southwest and other areas, thought at this time I do not think he's done the entire Country.. You might want to search for His other Books in this series and see if He has covered your region.. But the Overstreet Guides will certainly help you out.... ![]() DEAN ~~~

Yeah, I'm gonna have to get that.
Currently I'm reading "Authenticating Ancient Indian Artifacts" by Jim Bennett. I was turned onto that book here too and it's flipping great. Full color page after page of great information and loads of picture examples. While authentication is never 100% I feel MUCH more equiped to look at something through a loop now and look for warning signs. It's not like I'm going to get a stereo-microscope and start papering points but it's nice to not be ignorant of what should be obvious rechipping, repairs or fakes.
