Need help on type of axe

I found this axe about a year ago , and have had no luck in finding out it's type. I know it's a full groove axe but it has a 2nd groove on the back, that goes from one side to the other. I found it in the trans-pecos area, west texas. I have not even found a pic of one like this on-line or in any books. It's all there , not a nick on it. I can post more pics if needed.

That is a fairly rare type that I believe is called a "rabbit" full grooved.I've only saw 3 examples locally.I bought one of the 3 last week.I'll post pics soon.

Other than just saying it's a Full Grooved Axe, I can't help you out on the other groove. I've never seen anything like that from Ohio or anywhere else for that matter. It is one heck of a nice Axe though and a great looking in situ picture.

Having seen a couple of similar examples over in the Silver Cty area, I would be inclined to think that might be Mogollon subtype.

I agree with with beforeyouknewme.

I've seen similar grooved axes from the Paquime/Casas Grandes sites down in Chihuahua (although I wouldn't recommend going there now.)

Super cool axe! First I've seen of that type of style, was not even aware of that configuration's existence. Anybody have any theories of the intent on the extra groove, or how it was utilized? wtgmayes, would it be possible to see a straight on view of both sides exhibited simultaneously of that extra groove on the poll end? That would be great. Congrats on a fantastic and unique specimen.
