Boy that's unusual. What kind of fish are you holding there in your avatar?

Spotted long nose gar.

Yep its a gar . We get some really good size ones here. This bad boy was caught on rod and reel. Man it was a fight! A lot of fun.. We do eat them too. They have two big white tender straps running down the back. On the smaller ones its really good eats. The big ones , not so much. If ya have some in your area and ever catch one give it a try. Tin snipps cut all the way down the back and peel it open. two big white straps of meat. Fries up nice and white. Firmer texture than most fish but never slimey.

yeah, iv caught them with real small treble hooks, steel liter, and a big bobber, we have allot of needle nose gar around here, so you got to have that small treble to hookem, i have eatin them before, you gotta soak the meat in milk first, and you cant fry it cuz all the meat will dissipate.. not to bad tho.
TD.
