Artifacts Taken from the Public?
Y'all may have already seen this. The only thing that really bothered me was when they said it was like stealing from a museum. Yea he shouldn't be doing that but how bout slap a badge on this guy and call him a park ranger and pay him way too much money and then its perfectly fine. The government probly didn't even know that site existed. Was it really there for the public to enjoy?

From my perspective when you are digging up human remains on an unauthorized dig you deserve to have the book thrown at you -- regardless of the circumstances. I know several park rangers but weren't aware that they were over paid (and I know they aren't digging funerary objects). But I can only speak for my part of the country.

I live next to a state park and if someone got in there mining artifacts for a living and digging up indian skeletons, it would definitely cut into my enjoyment but that's just me.
Regardless, the guy got off lightly... If he broke into the concession stand and took $150K, he'd be doing more than 30 days. Obviously he can afford a good lawyer. |

Yea the part about digging up human remains should take it to a whole new level.A real travisty to the Native American values.
The part that made me chucle was at the end of the article showing a picture of the said stolen artifacts,,And then asking you to enjoy treasures from times past,,,If he had not dug them NO,,one would be able to enjoy them,,,Kinda Stupid statement

What the hell would you have to be thinking? Digging in a National Wildlife Refuge? 13,000 artifacts?
They should have sentenced him to 1 day in jail, 1 hour of community service and fined him $1. Then taken him out back and just shot him for being THAT stupid.
