Northwest artifact shows?
Has anyone heard of any Northwest artifact shows that will be held this year? By what I can find, I think my only choice will be to buy a airline ticket if I ever want to attend a artifact show. Thanks for the help, Kevin

Yeah, right..just like the ones we have down this way..lol. They do, however, have them in Califruitypornia, a couple times a year.

There's the Big One up in the Bay area, but that happened back in February (Pleasanton, I believe)... I know of None here in So Cal, but I might just be in the Dark on that.... Regarding the "Pornia" part.. i live in the San Fernando valley, NW of Los Angeles.. the "Valley" is the Porno Capital of the World...

On the west coast, the only public show I know about is the Marin Indian Art Show held in February at the Marin Civic Center, San Rafael, CA. - Native Crafts are the main feature. There are a couple of small scale NW regional get-togethers, but they are by invitation only and not open to the public.

I used to attend the Marin show, but did not this year. Like others of it's type, the sales of Indian artifacts is looked down upon by the majority. Baskets are OK, as they are considered art, and rightfully so. Many others consider arrowheads to be "burial goods"(ignorant morons) and automatically place collectors and dealers in the grave robber category. Fear and ignorance, along with restrictions placed on collecting, have turned the public sentiment away from these otherwise healthy activities.
