    What does this look like?

I bought this yesterday from a farmer that found it on his farm here in Ohio. 2 and a half inches long. One side has a ridge with lateral flaking. I tried showing nice flaking without much sucess. Edges ground about half an inch and also base.To me it looks to be an Ohio lanceaolate form. I found two broken Agate Basin types in this area last spring. What do you guys think?

All I can say is that, from the grinding around the base, it might be pretty old, but if the flaking from the edges that looks like it's running straight across from one side to the other is a case of flakes from opposite edges meeting in the middle, it might well not be.

Not much help -- sorry !

Put me down for "old". Looks late paleo to me. I'm going to wait on someone like Steve to type that Ohio gem.

that's what I thought too.I looked through Robert Converses book Ohio Flint types and there is a point labeled parellel flaked lanceolate that looks like a match. I hunt for artifacts about a mile from where this was found. last year I found two broken agate basins and a Plano type point.Another guy found a Clovis so I know the paleo pieces are there.
