Value opinions on celts & axes

There are 2 celts and 4 axes ranging in size from 3" to 5 1/2" in this lot. All from NE Texas, the small axe has had some restoration work in times past, the rest of the lot is original. The big celt is highly polished. Appreciate your opinions, thanks.

Kenny, nice looking Axes and Celts. When you say restored, are you talking about the yellowish looking spot on the last Axe? To me that looks like it's made from Limonite and that is just where the harder outer covering has weathered off exposing the softer insides. I have one very similar to that one.

Here's a picture of mine and you can see the same yellowish looking inside where the outer covering has broken away.

Steve, its definitely an early attempt at restoration. It appears to be some type of putty.I have it right now trying to figure out how to remove it without damaging the axe any more than what it already is.I went to look at the stuff Kenny bought and some of the dates written on the artifacts go back many years.I think one of them said 1930 or 1940.They probably don't even make whatever this stuff is anymore.

Kenny, values are very liquid concepts when it comes to looking at photographs of artifacts. I for one would never offer an opinion on any artifacts value, and I think that there are probably more than a few members here that feel the same. Most of us don't sell artifacts, and there are a lot of members who do not buy them. You might not get a very large response to your request. If I had a gun pointed at my big toe telling me to guess or lose my toe, I would have to change my user name to Stump. I'm trying to keep it good natured in my response, so please don't take umbrage.

No offense taken Manoman, I have over 20 years experience in the wholesale/retail sales industry and understand liquidity. I am just trying to get a better understanding on what the realistic values are since Ostreet and other price guides appear to be hyped up and unrealistic. I thought this board was for sharing and learning all there is to this hobby and endeaver, that we all have in common and are passonate about. Value is a factor with any hobby and is in the back of most any collectors mind, whether you buy/sell or not. There are both buyers and sellers on this board, where better to get this information. I guess Hothem and Ostreet are the only options. Respectfully Yours Manoman.
