I see you had to pull out all your expensive electrician tools,,,It's kinda funny how sometimes peoples jobs have an influence on things they make. You got creative with your sifter, I like it

    Happy Fathers day weekend!
Funny you say that....I cut most of the wood with my bandsaw, and sanded it all with my metal file.

??? What? You talkin' bout my crawfish sorting tray?

Seriously, this thing was made for use on my creek. Nobody'll be running me on my own land, or my neighbor's few hundred acres that I have allowed access to.
Sucks that some would have to worry about such a thing.

It couldn't have worked out better. The only thing it needs is a beerholder.
The screen sat just above the water, and with the weight of the gravel on it, it lowered the screen to the water level. Perfect!
Also, instead of one or two scoops and break your back,repeat....It was 6-7 nice scoops and chill for a bit to look through a nice sized tray of gravel. We had the four of us looking comfortably. With just the two of us, we're talkin' serious elbow room.
Here are a few pics of of in action. I'll try to get pics of the finds up soon.

Floating fine.(also held the weight of the shovel and gear as we walked the creek)

These are my cousins, and future Arrowheadologists. They've been rock hunting with me for years.
I call them the "Emo Hunters".
Their Dad is the guy who got me started on rock hounding when I was 9.
He can't take them hunting now, so I'm repaying him the favor.

Believe it or not, those kids are with me from the minute I get to the camp till the minute I leave.
Their dad is "Boring" to them.
The girls weren't around when I first got their and were bummed when me and Shelton made it back from round one.
They ran and made me a sandwich so we could go out for round two. They sat in that spot for at least an hour and a half.
They were the sifter flippers and I was the shoveler. Everyone went home with some goodies.

As far as other projects going through my head...you don't wanna know.

I like Lillyputs idea of a glass bottom boat,,,Now that would be awesome,,
But would cause many a boat wreck on a solo river run,,,LOL

119er, that is wonderful. Both that they enjoy it [looks are deceiving] and that you have the patience to spend time with them. Extra hands are always a help.

Neralich, remember the old movie 'Glass Bottom Boat' with Doris Day.The movie made an impression. Always wanted a small one.
If I lived close to where the water was deep enough, I would have one. Todays materials, probably not that hard to do. When I was about 5 I remember riding in one in San Marcos. Deep crystal clear water. They had a under water show. Complete with mermaids. Our two yellow labs think they are mermaids the way they love water.
I would not be surprised if your future project was a submersible.
    -life is good-
