    Sun pop

A paleo dart with a sun/freeze pop. I see this from time to time. Some types of local obsidian nodules have mineral impurities in them and when they sit and freeze and bake in the elements on the desert floor for thousands of years you get these sun pops on the exposed face. Some have multiple pops and patina covers them up when the pop(s) are thousands of years old. This one is rather fresh.....few hundred years I would guess.

Great information.I have not heard of the sun/freeze pops.Where I look in the central valley we find many with pops but I always thought they were fire pops from having gone through a fire. Thanks

I believe its the company logo for Marvel sewing machine company. It came off one of the 1890/1920s treadle sewing machines. Don't see many of those that aren't Singer.
