    Obsidian Folsom

Ran across these pictures of a point I picked up a few years back. Found in New Mexico. Typical NM Folsom with one side being a Midland and the other a perfect Folsom. I sent this point to Jeb Taylor and he papered it. I have heard comments that it looks to fresh, but I guess it depends on how it was buried. Definite mineral deposits under flake scars that can't be seen in pics. Enjoy. Jay

I no longer own this point. I sent it to Jeb cause he had seen so many Folsom/Midland points. I was confident that it was authentic. I would never sell a questionable point. Jay

    Jay,

I agree that Jeb would be the top authenticator for that point. Wish he was still doing evaluations.

Too bad you don't still have this one to compare side-by-side with the Atascosa county point. As for only one side being fluted ... you can only see one side in a frame anyway!

    Thanks for the look,
    David

These Folsom/Clovis threads always seem to generate a lot of opinions. There is a banded obsidian source in central Utah, and, I have no details, but have heard of a known Folsom site somewhere there.
