"Dry Spell" Reference Chart

"Dry Spell" Reference Chart

====Status GREEN====
»All I found today was a broken clovis base...
»I am sick of finding all these complete drills...
»Nothing today except for these 10 brokes...
»I only found one whole point today...
»I've been blessed to live in a region that is rich in artifacts... (John G. Scoggins)
»I got skunked today, but I found a beautiful polished Celt yesterday...

COMMENTS: You aren't in a dry spell... JERK!!! Keep posting pics so I can live vicariously through you.

====Status YELLOW====
»It took me a week to find this thumbnail scraper...
»I only found one whole point this summer...
»I found a flake tool today...
»OOOH!!! This flint has two knapping marks...
»So how do you "Creek Hunt" again...

COMMENTS: Hang in there, you'll find something nice sooner or later!
(You get three smileys because you need a pick-me-up.)

====Status RED====
»I found this weird rock today, it MUST be something...
»Hmm, this corn flake looks like a preform...
»I bribed the farmer to plow early this year...
»I knitted an arrowhead pillow today...
»I just made a "Dry Spell" Reference chart...
»So, where can I buy googly eyes...
»What's an arrowhead... (Mojave)

COMMENTS: Wow, your dry spell is pretty bad. Hide all sharp objects until you are back into "Status YELLOW".

Thankfully, I've been blessed to live in a region that is rich in artifacts.We don't have too many dry spells.About the only time we can't get artifacts is during hunting season.Way too many hunters out there shooting at any sound or movement.I commend those of you who live in regions that have few artifacts in your region and you still get out there and look.That shows a lot of heart and true passion for the hobby.

My life seems to be one of extremes. I am, and have been for quite some time, in a low. there doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground for me.

Well, you've got alot of members here that value your knowledgable contributions and experience. I would chalk that one up as one of this hobbies "Highs".

After hard rains comes new relics. I am off to walk the same area I have walked about 20+ times already this summer. Hopefully I can at least find a utilized flake...

Don't feel to bad I had a two year stretch where I found nothing but broken ones and pieces parts that was back in the 90's I have had many days were I find nothing but
flint flakes but you press on out of love of the hunt and the joy of the find.Don't let it get you down. All it takes is that nice whole one and you forget about the dry spells

Well Mudhawk,,,With out being Subversive on my last outing to this Midden here in Central Texas,,,I walked over years of "Throw Piles",,(This midden was atleast 2 acres big)In the Throw piles were huge ammounts of worked flakes and debutage.I could have spent the whole day looking at the surface without ever digging,,,If flakes was all I was into///c
