Good point bulletproof. Most pawn shops don't want stolen items in their shops, if they are honest dealers.

Very sorry to hear that. Two years ago my house was broken into. Got 3 flatscreens, all the electronics, and whatever else they could get there grubby crackheaded hands on. Luckily they passed right by all the artifacts. They took two arrowheads and they were given to me as a joke, you know the agate ones with the little micronotches made on a flake. They caught them three hours later trying to use my credit card.

You would think they are going to try to sell them and the coins. Probably someone who knows at least a little bit about artifacts and there worth I would think. Or they would have taken the guns and the coins and left the " rocks ".

They will get what is coming to them in the end. Karma is a real a hole sometimes. Hopefully they tripped, fell and ran an 8 inch scotty in their throat. Good luck to your friend.

I hate to hear this. About ten years ago someone broke into my house and stole a big part of my collection. They stole my safe containing almost all of of my grandfathers collection , a lot of my Dads pieces, as well as mine. In all he got three generations of locally collected documented artifacts. They caught him three days later trying to pawn my coins and ballcards, but I never found any of my artifacts. He did less than two years in prison.

I guess it may also be a grimm reminder to keep tighter lips around people you don't know so well concerning arrowhead collections or any valuable collection for that matter. Good 'ol Steve was gonna help me out with something a while back, but I was sketchy about giving out my address. Well, I do in fact trust you now buddy! Still, better safe than sorry in the beginning.

Nah, we just toss em out in the river bottoms for the wild pigs to eat!!

Jokes aside, the longest complete point I ever found - a 5 1/16th Axtell from the Sulphur - was stolen from my collection in 1996. Never have got it back. I still look for it at every show I go to.

There were three awesome frames of Texas points on Craig's list in Austin last week for $2,200 and I would have bought them but didn't have the extra bread at the time. They were only up for one day because it was an awesome deal. 100 points and they were mostly Perds, Montells, Langtry's and a few blades, one big nice Friday blade.
Craigslist would be the ideal place to look. It is free to list an ad and you could make arrangements cash transaction. I would contact craigslist and tell them you suspect stolen items are being sold, maybe they can pull some records with photos.

Nothing worse than a D... Thief! It is a real tragedy knowing how much time and energy it takes to put together a decent collection. I have taken the time to photo catalog my collection and put it to disc. This does nothing to prevent theft but may aid in recovery. Ray
