Book Thread

I've been thinking, why not have a book thread? Post your favorite artifact or prehistory related book(s).

To begin, here's a few that I use and enjoy:

Stone Age Spear and Arrow Points of California and the Great Basin: by Noel D. Justice
Stone Age Spear and Arrow Points of the Southwestern United States: by Noel D. Justice
Ancient Peoples of the Great Basin and Colorado Plateau by Steven R. Simms
Handbook of North American Indians, Volume 11: Great Basin by Warren L. D'Azevedo and William C. Sturtevant

How about this? Not much on arrowheads but a decent read and insightful on the plight of Indians.

Life Among the Piutes: Their Wrongs and Claims (1883)
by Sarah Winnemucca daughter and granddaughter, respectively, of Paiute chiefs Winnemucca and Truckee

Here's a few of my favorite books.

Sun Circles and Human Hands - The Southeastern Indians Art and Industries, written by Mary Douglass, Fundaburk Foreman, Vernon James Knight Jr.

Ohio Flint Types, written by Robert N. Converse

The Archaeology Of Ohio, written by Robert N. Converse

Any of the Indian Artifacts Of The Midwest series by Lar Hothem

Mounds For The Dead, written by Don Dragoo

The Hardin Village Site, written by Lee H. Hanson

And this one I just bought the other day off of Ebay. I have wanted this book for a long time but had never seen it as cheap as I got it for. I had seen reprints really cheap, but this is a first edition, first printing of an 1892 book.

Primitive Man In Ohio, written by Warren K. Moorehead 1892, 1st edition

Very good reference

Authenticating Ancient Indian Artifacts by Jim Bennet
Excellent photo examples of Repros, rechips and originals and how to tell the difference.

Arrowheads & Stone Artifacts by C.G. Yeager
Very basic with not much more than you can find just looking around the internent.

Stone Age Spear and Arrow Points of Mid Cont. E. US by Noel D. Justice
Super reference for my region with points in chronological order and great descriptions.

Peoples of the Flute by Bob Patten
Maybe more questions than answers but a good account of probabilites, despite parts that are a bit too technical for the average person, and explanation of how fluting is accomplished.
